In this book, the author Thomas Dose takes us on a compelling and accessible journey through the evolution and application of improvement methods that go far beyond conventional teachings. Rooted in over 30 years of hands-on experience with lean principles, these insights offer a fresh perspective on achieving excellence.
This book was written to illustrate the development process of the Eliya Principle and to show that no complex management techniques are needed for its application. It provides only a small glimpse of the potential transformations that can be achieved through consistent “out of the box” thinking.
My experience over the past 30 years in applying lean principles has taught me that simplicity and common sense are the keys to success. The journey began with the classic “lean production” approach, which, when applied correctly, remains an effective tool for achieving significant and rapid improvements.
Over time, I realized that behind the simple concept of lean, there is a much more powerful philosophy. Its application has naturally expanded beyond manu-facturing to organizational development, traditional quality management, marketing, product develop-ment, software development, and ultimately to “lean life.”
We tend to adopt new trends or focus on digitalization without first ensuring that fundamental processes are as simple and intuitive as possible.

About Me
I spent over 30 years in the industry as a consultant and in senior leadership positions, where I learned to align large organisations and successfully implement substantial change. One of my key strengths is guiding people through transformation processes, thinking outside the box, and conveying my knowledge in a clear and easily understandable way.
For the past 15 years, I have lived and worked primarily in India. I am particularly fascinated by South Indian culture and have sought to capture this in my book.
My initial intention was to write a nonfiction book about the Eliya Principle. However, India is so full of fascinating stories that it has now turned into a short novel. This marks the beginning of a series titled:
"Eliya - the secret of success"
